It’s going to be a beautiful California fall morning, the market is bursting with autumnal goodness, and there’s something so special about shopping in the open air with your friends and neighbors all around. We are so lucky and grateful to be a part of this amazing community, and we can’t wait to see your (masked) faces! 🍎🐂🍐🍁😷🤗
Our succulent pasture raised chickens are so popular, they’ve all sold out! We raise limited amounts of these beauties, but we will have a fresh batch available for you in just a few weeks! Did you know that we raise limited flocks of pastured chickens, as well as cows and goats? Our philosophy for raising chickens is the same guiding principles we use for our larger animals— a life lived outside in the grass, free from stress where they are able to forage for bugs and treats. It makes for the most delicious chicken! And when you are done with the meat, save that carcass for a rich, beautiful stock— the foundation for any fall or winter soup! (📷: @kf_haas)
Is there anything sweeter than mamas and babies? We keep our calves with the mothers that birthed them, for the entirety of their lives. The eat nothing but their mother’s milk and coastal grasses and hay, and we just wouldn’t have it any other way!
Veal stew meat, cooked simply and quickly in the Instant Pot, is one of our *favorite* warm weather dinner hacks! It fabulous piled onto a lightly toasted bun with some homemade bbq sauce, or tucked into a tortilla with some fresh cheese, crunchy lettuce, and juicy tomatoes. Of course, it obviously makes a mighty fine stew to serve over creamy mashed potatoes, if you are into that sort of thing! 😜🧡

Time to turn off the TV and start planning what we are going to cook this weekend, don’t you think?! It seems like the fall weather has finally begun to arrive in Northern California, so perhaps a cumin and orange-scented grass-fed goat braise is in order? Or maybe we’ll dust off our cast iron grill pan and cook up some thick pasture raised veal chops (thanks @ildonmagnanimo for this photo for inspiration)! With humanely raised meats, you really can’t go wrong. 💚🧡

Our favorite secret weapon for so many weeknight dinners is our veal scallopini— it’s such a versatile cut of meat that can be turned into dozens of different meals with endless flavor profiles. They freeze beautifully and defrost in a flash, which makes them the perfect cut to stock up on!

Have you made friends with your instant pot yet? It’s the absolute *best* tool for cooking delicious braises without heating up your whole kitchen! As the rest of the country seems blanketed with fall leaves and cozy sweaters, we here in California are still in the thick of our seemingly endless summer. In order to keep our temperatures low inside, and take some stress out of cooking, we turn to our instant pot to give us flavorful pasture raised veal and grass fed goat braises, perfect for tacos, sandwiches, or piled on top of mashed potatoes with savory gravy. Another benefit— that machine is FAST! Dinner in an hour, without making the kitchen all hot and steamy? Yes, please!
Mid-week date night! Gorgeous pasture raised veal is utter perfection with some compound butter, garlicky mashed potatoes, and creamed kale. Can’t get out to the steakhouse? This one is so easy to recreate at home! Now all you need is a big beautiful glass of Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon...

Hope you all are staying safe in this sweltering heat! We’d like a moment to thank those of who are working so tirelessly to take such care of our community. 🧡 Firefighters battling the blazes around our state, doctors, nurses, and healthcare techs who have been working overtime since the start of the pandemic, and all the other essential workers who have been feeding us and caring for our needs. And our hearts are with those struggling to keep working or even to find work after losing their jobs. Thank you all for all that you do! #laborday2020
